Yarn: fingering weight sock yarn, e.g. Drops
Fabel 100g/410m, socks pictured here used
62 grams of yarn
Needles: 2.25 mm or what is needed to
obtain gauge
Gauge: 35 sts and 45 rows/ 10 cm in
stockinette stitch blocked
Other notions: a yarn needle
Size: 64 sts, shoe size 38-39 EU
Leg
Cast on 64 sts and divide evenly on four DPNs, 16 sts for each needle. The beginning of the round
is on the back of the sock. Begin by knitting one row. After this you work in knit 1 through the back
loop, purl 1 rib for 10 rounds in total. Knit 1 row.
Start working the pattern according to the chart. The pattern is going to on the outer edge of the
foot. On the right foot’s sock this means the 2nd needle and on the left foot’s sock the 3rd needle.
Work stockinette stich on the rest of the needles. Repeat the chart rows 1-10 five times.
Heel and gusset decreases
Start working on the heel flap by knitting the sts of the 1st and the 4th needles on to the same needle
(32 sts in total). Leave the other stiches to rest.
1
st row: (ws) Knit 2 *slip 1 purlwise with the yarn
behind the sts (i.e. on the front of the work), purl 1*.
Repeat *-* until 2 sts remain. Knit 2. Turn work.
2
nd row: (rs) Knit all sts. Turn work.
3
rd row: (ws) Knit 2 *purl 1, slip 1 purlwise with the
yarn behind the sts (i.e. on the front of the work) *.
Repeat *-* until 2 sts remain. Knit 2. Turn work.
4
th row: (rs) Knit all sts. Turn work.
The sides of the heel flap will have two sts in garter
sts, and the slipped sts will create a crosswise
pattern on the right side of the work.

Repeat these four rows until you have 32 rows in total and have last worked a ws row.
Turning the heel:
Continue working in the same sts pattern. Knit on the rs row until
you have 12 sts remaining unworked.
Slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped sts over and turn the work. 10 sts will
remain unworked. Slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front and continue
in the sts pattern until 12 sts remain. Purl 2 together and turn the
work. Slip 1 purlwise with yarn in back and knit until 11 sts
remain unworked. Slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped sts over and turn the
work. Slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front and continue in the
pattern until 11 sts remain unworked. Purl 2 together and turn the
work.
Continue like this until no side sts remain. The amount of side sts decreases every row and the
amount of the middle sts stays the same (10 sts). Divide the remaining 10 heel sts on to two needles
(5 sts each).
Knit the 5 sts from the first needle. Then pick up 18 sts from the left side of the heel flap and knit
them. On the left sock work the charted pattern on the 2nd needle and knit the sts on the 3rd needle.
On the right sock knit the sts on the 2nd needle and work the charted pattern on the 3rd needle. Pick
up 18 sts on the right side of the heel flap and knit them. Work the remaining 5 heel sts on to this
needle as well. There are 78 sts on the needles now.
Gusset decreases:
You work the decrease every other row as follows: on the end of the 1st needle knit 2 together and
in the beginning of the 4th needle slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped sts over. Repeat the decreases until 64
sts remain in total. Work the stockinette sts and the chart as
established on the leg.
Toe
When you have repeated the chart 7 times start the toe
decreases. On the end of the 1st and the 3rd needles knit 2
together and knit 1. In the beginning of the 2nd and 4th needles
knit 1 and slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped sts over. Work the
decreases every other row six times and then every row six
times. There will be 16 sts in total now. Knit the sts of the 1st
and the 4th needle together and slip the sts of the 2nd and the 3rd
needles on to the same needle. Close the toe using kitchener
sts. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends. Block lightly.
