Simple Shawl

Materials:
1 x skein 4 ply sock yarn – I used Skein Queen
Oasis Grande (4 ply – 50% Silk/50% Camel –
400m)
3.75mm circular needle - or the needle size to
give the desired drape of your chosen yarn.
Abbreviations used:
K – knit
KFB – knit into the front and then the back of
the same stitch
YO – yarn over
K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together
Method:
Cast on 3 stitches.
Row 1 - KFB, K1 (this will become your ‘centre stitch’), KFB (5 stitches).
Row 2 - KFB, knit to the centre stitch, YO, K1, YO, knit to the last stitch, KFB.
Row 3 - KFB, knit to the last stitch, KFB.
Row 4 – KFB, knit to the last stitch KFB.
Continue with rows 2, 3 & 4 until you have 301 stitches on your needles or until approx.
25g of yarn remains.
Eyelet section:
Row 1 - KFB, K1 *YO, K2 TOG* repeat ** until centre stitch. YO, K1 (centre stitch), YO,
K2TOG until last 2sts K1, KFB.
Rows 2 & 3 - KFB, knit all stitches until the last stitch, KFB.
Row 4 - KFB, knit to centre stitch, YO, K1 (centre stitch), YO, knit to the last stitch, KFB.
Rows 5 & 6 - KFB, knit all stitches until the last stitch, KFB.
Row 7 - Repeat row 1 of the Eyelet section.
Row 8 - Repeat rows 2 & 3.
Row 9 – KFB, knit to last stitch, KFB.
Picot bind off:
Cast on 2 stitches (I use the cable cast on method), cast off 5 stitches, slip the remaining
stitch back onto the left hand needle. Cast on 2 stitches, cast off 5 stitches. Continue in
this way until the last stitch. Fasten off.
Weave in ends and lightly block.
