Instructions
With MC (main color), cast on 112 stitches on the smaller
circular needle. Place a marker and join in the round.
Work a 2x2 rib (Knit 2, Purl 2) until the brim measures
4” from the cast on edge.
Increase 5 stitches evenly while knitting the next row on
to the larger circular needles. There will now be 117
stitches on your needles. Knit 3 rounds.
Chart
Repeat the 3 stitch pattern of the chart for the next 21
rows. Knit one row in MC.
Decrease Crown
Begin decreases as follows changing to double pointed
needles when needed:
Row 1: *Knit 7, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(104 sts)
Row 2 and all even rows: Knit
Row 3: *Knit 6, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(91 sts)
Row 5: *Knit 5, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(78 sts)
Row 7: *Knit 4, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(65 sts)
Row 9: *Knit 3, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(52 sts)
Row 11: *Knit 2, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(39 sts)
Row 13: *Knit 1, K2tog – repeat from * to end of round.
(26 sts)
Row 15: *K2tog – repeat from * to end of round. (13 sts)
Row 17: *K2tog until 1 stitch remains, knit 1. (7 sts)
Cut yarn, thread onto tapestry needle, pull needle
through remaining 7 stitches and cinch closed. Weave in
ends. Add pom pom if desired.
